Stormwater Fee

Pennsylvania Act 68 of 2013 authorizes authorities to collect fees for the financing of stormwater planning, management and implementation. The intent of Act 68 is to provide funding sources, other than taxes, for the purpose of stormwater management.

Facing increasing costs and regulations of the MS4 program, the Mechanicsburg Municipal Authority enacted Resolution 2-2020 establishing a Stormwater Management Fee (Fee) of $28 per Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU) per quarter. All single family residential properties will be charged one ERU and all Non-Residential properties will be charged multiples of ERUs based on its total impervious surface. An ERU is equal to the average impervious surface of single family residential properties in the Borough of Mechanicsburg and is calculated to be 3,160 square feet.
