Yard Maintenace

Per Borough code (10-102), no person owning or occupying any property in the Borough shall permit any grass, weeds, or vegetation not edible or planted for some useful or ornamental purpose to exceed the height of six (6) inches.

As stated in Borough code 10-103, the owner of any premises, as to vacant premises or premises occupied by the owner of premises containing more than one rental unit, and the occupant of premises comprising a single rental unit shall remove, trim or cut all grass, weed and other vegetation growing or remaining on the premises in violation of the provisions of Borough code 10-102.

Borough code 10-104 states that any officer or employee of the Borough designated thereby for the purpose, is hereby authorized to give notice, by personal service or US mail, to the owner or occupant directing them to remove, trim or cut such grass, weeds or other vegetation in accordance with 10-102 within five (5) days of notice. Shall the owner of occupant fail or refuse to comply with the notice within five (5) days, Borough authorities may remove, trim or cut such grass, weeds or other vegetation. The cost of the service, with an additional amount of 10%, may be collected by the Borough from such owner or occupant in the manner provided by law.

Any person who fails to comply with any provisions stated or any notice given shall, under conviction thereof, be sentences to a fine not to exceed $300 and costs or to undergo imprisonment for a term not to exceed 30 days, provided that each days violation or failure, neglect or refusal to comply shall constitute a separate violation per Borough code 10-105.
